One thing Rural Alberta is known for is its great sports facilities, sport organizations, and active minor leagues. Didsbury is no exception. Ideally situated in the heart of the Calgary-Edmonton corridor, you’ll find Didsbury is a great place to raise your children. If you’re in town for a tournament or bonspiel, you’ll be very pleased with all the amenities found here. The Didsbury Memorial Complex is a beautiful facility with indoor pool and waterslide at the Aquatic Centre, two skating rinks (one leisure and one regulation size), and a four-sheet curling rink. Didsbury’s Lawn Bowling Greens are immediately east of the Complex, along with a playground for the kids. No community would be complete without its own golf course, and you’ll find the Didsbury Golf Course just the cat’s meow. This is a well-maintained course with a clubhouse and Pro Shop, restaurant and lounge. The golf course is located on the west side of town, beside the tennis courts and ball diamonds. Want to kick the ball around a bit? Stop in at one of the four soccer fields in town, or shoot some hoops at the outdoor basketball court beside the Didsbury High School. Looking for a hobby that’s a little different? Then check into the Didsbury R/C Fun Flyers. Remote control airplanes fly from the club’s airfield northwest of Didsbury. It’s fun to watch and even more fun to fly them yourself! Lots of spectator sports in town too. During the winter months, you’ll enjoy taking in a Mountain View Colts hockey game. The Colts are part of the Heritage Junior B Hockey League. The kids also have plenty of recreational activities they can take part in. Check out the Didsbury Library for various reading programs, or sign up for the Summer Fun program hosted by the Town of Didsbury in July and August. Last but not least, you’ll enjoy a visit to the Didsbury Museum where you will see displays of artifacts, history, and memorabilia representing the pioneers who founded Didsbury.
