|Winter is over and the end of the school year is in our sights. The calendar may still say April, but it's time to sign your kids up for summer camps. Yes, there are so many options, but there is so much good about sending your child to a music camp.|
Top Note Music School is dedicated to helping people pursue their study of music. Students include children, young people, and adults - anyone interested in enrichment through lifelong musical learning.
They have studios in Didsbury and Carstairs now and are gearing up for the summer music programs.
Their Sunrise Beginner Band Camp is designed for musicians who have less than 7 months experience on their band instrument. Cynthia Yuschyshyn from Carleton Place High School is this year's instructor. Wait till you hear her on the trombone!
Summer Intermediate Concert Band class is designed for musicians with a year or more of experience. One session in Didsbury and one in Carstairs.
Here's one your little singers will love - a Summer Singing Fun Camp. Designed for kids 6 - 12 years of age, kids will be taught by award-winning Monika With a K. They'll learn how to sing properly, how to perform with a microphone, and even some songwriting!
And if Violin and Piano are their chosen instruments, the 3-day camp in July will help improve playing skills. There's also two special Piano Camps set for children ages 6 - 14 in August.
More for the singers! There's a Junior Choir Camp for children ages 8 to 13 at the beginning of August. Your kids will be shown different types of choral styles and there's lots of social activities planned for them as well. Then, in the afternoon, is the Youth Choir Camp for teens ages 13 to 18. They'll learn choral literature from madrigals to contemporary. That week of lessons will end with a concert on Friday evening!
Bang the drums! Fundamental techniques for those aged 6 - 14 years. One session in Carstairs and one in Didsbury, for your convenience.
The summer rounds out with an Introduction to Woodwinds and Brass Instruments. This is perfect for kids moving into the middle schools as a lead-in to joining the famous band programs.
