|One of Didsbury's active organizations is the Mountain View Arts Society. These volunteers bring artists, musicians, dancers, and other "artsy folk" to Didsbury at various times of the year.|
The Mountain View Arts Society promotes and encourages a variety of artistic opportunities and events for the enrichment and enjoyment of the general public.
This year's events include:
"A Brush With Art" Art Show and Sale - April 7 and 8
Global Drums Concert - May 3
Days of Yore Living Museum Fest - August 4 and 5
Mountain View Arts Festival - September 7 and 8
Alberta Culture Days - September 29 and 30
In order to make these events successful, the non-profit society enjoys the leadership of a Board of Directors. And now it's time to elect a new slate of volunteers for 2018.
Everyone is invited to join the Mountain View Arts Society at the Annual General Meeting, Monday, February 26 at 7 pm.
Celebration at the Didsbury Museum, 2110 — 21st Avenue.
Special Guest Speakers are Cali Beazley and Brandee Elliott who led the "Opening Minds Through Art" program this year in Didsbury.
OMA is an intergenerational program for people with cognitive barriers or dementia, pairing them with high school leadership students, families, and caregivers. It's all about community engagement, creating a legacy of beautiful artwork.
Agenda includes A Year in Review, Auditor's Report, and Election of Officers.
Come for munchies as they recap 2017 and look ahead to 2018. Bring your questions and your ideas. Bring any friends who might be interested in joining the society as they move forward with their mandate to promote and encourage artistic opportunity here in Mountain View County.
Membership renewals and purchases can be made from 6:30-7:00 pm, and are necessary in order to vote at the meeting. A one year membership is only $20. If you want to get your membership ahead of time, go to www.mountainviewartssociety.ca or call 403-335-9445.
