The school was established in 1978 by a very dedicated group of parents, whose purpose was to provide their preschool children with the opportunity to learn through constructive play and the development of social skills, prior to entering the regular school system. The Didsbury Preschool is a non-profit society, operated by a Parent Executive Board, who meet monthly to administer and update the operation of the school, and to table events or concerns of the school. Generally speaking, the Didsbury Preschool follows the same school calendar as Ross Ford Elementary, Westglen Middle School, and the Didsbury High School, so when Chinook’s Edge School Division schools have holidays, so will the Didsbury Preschool.

Family Literacy Programs support parents through sharing skills, tools, and resources to enhance early literacy development within the family. Programs include Rhyme Time, Books for Babies, and T.I.E.S. Teaching Important Educational Strategies (TIES), is a program that will help parents create strong bonds with their children. Volunteer Tutor Adult Learning Services offers one-on-one and small group literacy tutoring covering such topics as language, reading, writing, math, computer use, and document use, as well as English Language learning. Learners are matched with a tutor free of charge. Community Adult Learning Programs offer adult programs in the areas of Adult Basic Literacy, English Language Learning. Olds Career High School is a fully accredited public high school dedicated to helping learners of all ages in an alternative school environment. Adult learners are welcome to upgrade or earn their high school diploma. Students are able to engage in an education program uniquely tailored to their individual needs, as they work towards achieving their educational goals. Support is offered from certified teachers working on campus. Students may attend the high school very day, but are also free to pursue their studies away from the school. Off Campus Learning Centre is a fully accredited public elementary and junior high school operating as a facilitated home based learning opportunity. Olds College is dedicated to being the premier Canadian integrated learning and applied research facility.
