The shelter serves the needs of battered women with or without children, sexual assault victims and emotionally abused women by offering counselling, temporary safe accommodation and referral to other services. Walk-in and phone-in counselling is available 24 hours a day. There are no fees associated with this service. Referrals to the treatment program for men who batter their partners are also accepted. Treatment groups for women and adolescents are also available through referrals.

Family Literacy Programs support parents through sharing skills, tools, and resources to enhance early literacy development within the family. Programs include Rhyming Together, Books for Babies, and T.I.E.S., Teaching Important Educational Strategies, a program that will help parents create strong bonds with their children. Volunteer Tutor Adult Learning Services offers one-on-one and small group literacy tutoring covering such topics as language, reading, writing, math, computer use, and document use, as well as English Language learning. Learners are matched with a tutor free of charge. Community Adult Learning Programs offer adult programs in the areas of Adult Basic Literacy, Math Literacy, English Language Learning, Employability Skill Enhancement, Community Issues, General Interest Programming, Professional Development, and Basic Computer Essentials Skills.
